How It Works
Client’s Story
At Harris Rand, we work with firm management to understand the firm’s mission, values and strategic growth objectives. We also work directly with practice leaders to develop a compelling “story” (sales pitch) to present to potential candidates and sell the move.
Target List
Strategy and research are the backbone to our proprietary process, Targeted Partner Search. With our extensive knowledge of the AmLaw 200 firms, we segment the market and identify highly specialized individuals who have the skill set, credentials, past representations, client roster, practice economics, and experience to elevate our client’s practice and the overall firm in tactical ways.
Candidate Development
We make contact with individual attorneys to gage their desire to reposition their practice within the infrastructure of a different firm. This process involves several conversations to peel back the layers. We ensure that their digital background lines up with their actual experience and learn the specifics of their practice to determine if the numbers, facts, and their personal ethos will fit in well with our client’s practice. We identify synergies, and close deals by pairing personalities with cultures that will work in harmony.
Constant Communication
We construct a story about the candidate to present to the client. If both sides feel there is potential, Harris Rand becomes the intermediary to ensure the process is nimble and productive. We arrange a series of meetings between the firm and the candidate, ensuring that both parties are briefed in advance of any meeting, and then debriefing with both sides after each meeting. We manage and facilitate continued communication during the process and ensure complete access to necessary information for both sides to make a decision.
Final Hire
Our deep understanding of market economics and our role as an intermediary are invaluable during the sensitive negotiating phase leading to final acceptance of an offer. We will ensure the interests of both the client and candidate are taken into account. We will assist in contract and compensation negotiations, address issues relating to career progression and obtain any information necessary to come to an informed decision.
